Rahul’s statement comes as the race for the Congress presidential nomination heats up. Gehlot stated to the media in Kerala on Friday. “I have repeatedly asked him (Rahul Gandhi) to accept everyone’s proposition to become Congress President. He made it plain that no one from the Gandhi family would be the future Prime Minister.” Gehlot also stated that he will submit his candidacy for the election shortly. Given the country’s current situation, he believes the opposition must be powerful.
The expected candidates for the forthcoming election are Ashok Gehlot and party MP Shashi Tharoor. However, Congress committees across the nation are organizing meetings. In which a resolution saying that “we authorize the next Congress president to nominate PCC and AICC members”. Moreover, this meeting will be for the same approval.

Despite the party’s backing, Rahul Gandhi has remained tight-lipped about his plan to vie for the party’s presidential nomination. Earlier, he made a cryptic statement regarding his choice. He said, “Whether I become president (of Congress) or not will become evident when the presidential election is held.”
He told the reporters in Kanyakumari that if he does not file the nomination, he will be questioned why he is opposed to accepting the leadership and will respond.
The presidential election for Congress is scheduled for October 17. The count will take place on October 19.
